Giving
back - One Bag of Goodies at a Time!

In October, the 7th and 8th Grade students, with the
guidance from Mrs. Brooks, collected items to donate to the Cumberland County
Department of Social Services - benefiting kids who need a little "pick me up".
Job well done students!! You ARE making a positive difference in our community.

WALKING WITH
DINOSAURS!
October 11th Alpha Academy
students traveled to Winston Salem NC to see
"Walking with Dinosaurs"! Thank you to
everyone who signed up and all the Parent Chaperones!! It was a GREAT time!

Academy Gym Class
Students are enjoying the weekly classes held at Myers Recreation
Center located at 1018 Rochester Street in Fayetteville. Classes are
learning Yoga, Basketball, and many other important aspects of physical
fitness!
Parents are welcome and encouraged to join their children in P.E. at
any time! For more information on P.E. class schedules, please see your
child's teacher. |

P.E. Uniform:
Navy blue T-shirt & Navy blue shorts or sweatpants. Students may change
clothes at school. |

Lunch
Middle School students eat lunch in Alpha Academy's
Student Center. Microwaves are provided for heating students lunches.
The Alpha Academy PTF is actively looking for volunteers
to be "Lunch Buddies" to allow our teachers to enjoy their lunch in the
teacher's lounge.

Student Behavior Guidelines
Alpha Academy Charter School
Class I Offenses
1. Repeatedly reporting to class late.
2. Failure to attend an assigned class without a valid excuse.
3. Littering school property.
4. Repeatedly refusing to complete assignments.
5. Repeatedly refusing to bring notebook, pencil and/or other learning
materials to class.
6. Possession of non-educational electronic equipment and/or games.
Consequence
Violations result in out of school suspension for up to five days. To
re-enter student must show evidence that indicates that they are now focused in
academic, motivational, and behavioral aspects.
Class II Offenses
1. Deliberately disrupting the normal educational process in the
classroom.
2. Use of profanity and/or an obscene gesture.
3. Lying to a teacher or deliberately deceiving a staff member.
4. Willfully leaving the classroom without the teacher’s permission.
5. Deliberately failing to respond to a reasonable request by a school
official.
6. Knowingly possessing and/or using tobacco products at school.
7. Stealing or possessing stolen property valued at less than $100.
8. Defacing or vandalizing school property when resulting damages do not
exceed $100.
9. Leaving school grounds without permission.
10. Inappropriate public displays of affection.
11. Any other violations which are expressly listed in the written school
rules and procedures that fall within this category.
12. Possessing an electronic pager or a laser pointer on school property.
13. Physical aggressive behavior.
Consequences
Two violations result in temporary exclusion from school for up to ten days.
To re-enter, student must show evidence that indicates that they are now focused
in academic, motivational, and behavioral aspects.
Class III Offenses
1. Threatening to physically harm or attack another student, staff member
or adult at school.
2. Physically attacking a student by two or more students acting
together.
3. Threatening physical harm to or physically attacking another student
in order to gain money or objects belonging to that student.
4. Creating or encouraging other students to join in a disturbance, so as
to cause the disruption of normal school operations.
5. Possessing any gun, rifle, knife, leaded cane, blackjack, metallic
knuckles, razor/cutter, mace, pepper gas, explosives or martial arts weapons
at school (to include using, or threatening to use, to inflict injury any
blunt or sharp-pointed instrument which may be capable of inflicting bodily
injury).
6. Arson, vandalism, unlawful entry or theft of school property or
personal property at school which results in the loss of $100 or more.
7. Possessing, using or being under the influence of alcohol or illegal
drugs at school.
8. Selling, exchanging or distributing alcohol, illegal drugs or any
substance purported to be an illegal drug or alcohol at school.
9. Committing repeated Class I and/or Class II offenses.
10. Touching or directing language toward another person which by contact
or language suggests or proposes sexual acts and is offensive to the other
person at that time.
11. Committing sexual assaults, sexual battery, sexual intercourse,
attempted rape, or rape at school.
12. Extreme cases of physical aggression.
Consequences
Automatic expulsion from the school. May not re-apply. Expulsions may be
appealed within 10 days to the Board. Student will be suspended until Board
reaches a final decision.
Note: Any student who inadvertently possesses or finds a weapon or substance
which may subject the student to a possible exclusion may or may not be
recommended for these sanctions if the student voluntarily surrenders the
property to a school staff person prior to discovery by another person. This
should be done as soon as the student realizes that he/she is in possession of
the weapon or substance.
