Below you will find a copy of our Teacher/Parent/ Student - School Agreement. Parental involvement is paramount at AlphA Academy. The success of your child at Alpha Academy equally depends on each partner of this agreement.

TEACHER/ PARENT/ STUDENT - SCHOOL AGREEMENT

The foundation of the Alpha Academy Charter School is built on creating a traditional learning environment that provides:

1. Challenging academic environment

2. Focused classroom size

3. Strong discipline and honor code

4. Strong, cooperative environment for parents, students, and teachers

5. High professional satisfaction and accountability

The participatory process of parents, students, and staff requires a civil, reasoned approach to dealing with challenges in the school.

An Operating committee representing parents, administration and staff will address issues and concerns that arise and make recommendations for solutions.

Parents, students, and Alpha Academy staff are partners in education to develop problem solvers, critical thinkers, and self-directed students who will be capable of making an effective transition into high school. The summary roles and responsibilities of the Alpha Academy staff, parents, and students are:

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE Alpha Academy STAFF

To provide a safe, positive and challenging learning environment

To communicate honestly and frequently regarding student progress

To inform parents of student disciplinary actions in a timely manner

To encourage parent involvement which is supportive of a positive school Environment

To make a good faith effort to resolve parent and student concerns

To prepare lesson material that is interesting, challenging and appropriate for the student

To treat parents and students with respect and kindness

To reward appropriate behavior and academic excellence

RESPONSIBILITIES OF PARENTS

To model attitudes and behaviors that support Alpha Academy

1. Speak positively with student about school and staff

2. To address concerns in an appropriate manner

3. Read and discuss with student the Student Behavior Guidelines as outlined in the Charter document

To show respect for the school by assuring that students

1. Arrive on time and remain the full length of the school day

2. Comply with the school calendar for vacations

3. Attend to every day health needs by assuring proper rest, nutrition, and recreation to promote well-being and readiness to learn

4. Maintain a balance between activities outside of school and school responsibilities

5. Adhere to the dress code

To enhance learning by:

1. Reading with your child

2. Keeping abreast of your child's progress

3. Monitoring completion of homework, projects, and class, work

4. Giving positive reinforcement for appropriate attitudes and behaviors

5. Attending parent conferences

To support Alpha Academy through volunteer support and open communication

RESPONSIBILITIES OF STUDENTS

To come to school on time and prepared to learn with materials and assignments

To communicate honestly and respectfully with adults and other students

To adhere to the dress code

To listen and follow directions in and out of the classroom

To keep the school facilities clean and safe

To exhibit attitudes and behaviors which encourage learning for themselves and others

To treat fellow students, staff and volunteers with kindness and respect

To read and understand the Classroom Expectations and the Student Behavior Guidelines as outlined in the Charter document
